Thelma’s Kitchen: Looking Ahead Together
Dear Friends,
Thelma's Kitchen has always been about more than a meal. It is a place where neighbors feel welcome, relationships grow, and community comes together. Today, we want to share an important update.
Beginning September 2, our cafe will temporarily pause service to outside customers, and suspend catering services. Throughout this time, our commitment to feeding our REVEAL clients will continue without interruption. Together with our community partners, we will continue providing meals to hundreds of our clients each week, reaching nearly 4,000 people each year. This commitment has been at the heart of Reconciliation Services for nearly 40 years.
For the past six months, we have been taking a closer look at Thelma's Kitchen and how it can best serve our community and further the mission of Reconciliation Services. This temporary pause gives us the opportunity to listen to our community and thoughtfully consider what Thelma's Kitchen should become in its next chapter.
And now, we want to hear from you.
Take our brief three-question survey and help shape the next chapter of Thelma’s Kitchen.
Over the coming months, we will listen to clients, neighbors, volunteers, donors, partners, patrons, and friends of Thelma's Kitchen. Your experience and perspective will help shape what comes next.
Our hope is to welcome the community back to a reimagined Thelma's Kitchen during the first quarter of 2027 -- or, if possible, even sooner.
As Fr. Justin recently reminded our team, sometimes we must "root down in order to bear fruit up." This is one of those moments. We are taking time to listen, learn, and build thoughtfully, honoring the legacy of Mother Thelma while imagining how Thelma's Kitchen can continue bringing people together for years to come.
Thank you for caring about Thelma's Kitchen, believing in this community, and being part of what comes next.
With gratitude,
Reconciliation Services Team
